Friday 9th September 2011 Grade 1 and 2 Camp

Bush Ranger's Bay

Grade 1 and 2 Camp

On Thursday the one and two's went to Bush Ranger's Bay for a very long walk. On the walk we could see the beach. . There were lots and lots of stairs to climb, we counted around 130!!! we saw a kangaroo and Mr Trev named him Wayne. We saw about five altogether, one even had a joey in it's pouch. When we finally arrived at the beach we had our lunch, yum!!

Then we had a play on the beach. It was a long walk back to the bus, our legs needed a rest!!

We all ate a yummy dinner at school. We had sausages in bread or a hamburger and a little bit of the salad. For dessert we had ice-cream in a cone.

After dinner we played lots of fun games like Indian's and Wigwongs!!

After brushing our teeth we said good night everyone and headed off to our tents.

Our Antiques Expo :D

This term we are learning all about history and how things have changed. So we held an antique expo where we all brought in something very old that we don't find much anymore and presented it to some classes. Alot of us dressed up on the day, even the teachers joined in. I think we all looked fantastic!

Perry and Keeley look fantastic in their olden day clothes. ... Is holding what looks to be an old style doll.

Keeley not only looks fantastic in her old fashioned dress but is actually holding an old certificate saying you have completed your senior swimming and that you can do diving, be an instructor, do rescue work and do resuscitation.

Georgia has brought an old record you know the things before CD's and ipods. Its titled The Music of George Geshwin.

Our Mc Crae Homestead escursion :)

On the 29th July the grade 1 and 2's went to the Mc Crae Homestead to learn about their history and what their grandparents used to live like, and to see how things have changed. When they had finished the tour of the homestead they went and visited Mc Crae lighthouse and did many fun activities at the park.

This is Patrick he is learning how to wash clothes with a washboard just like they used to back in the day. When asked what he thought about it he said it was easy. :)

The grade 1 and 2's at the playground near the lighthouse in Mc Crae about to get ready for the many activities planned.

This is Amari's fabulous drawing of the Mc Crae lighthouse in the background. All the grade 1 and 2's drew a picture of the lighthouse and should all be very proud of ther fabulous work.

Our Animal Expo

On Monday, all of the grade 1/2s showed our projects to the rest of the school. In art, we made headbands to match our project. There were posters, dioramas, booklets and power point presentations. We set up our tables around the outside of our classroom. Jackson E, Lily and Heath sat out the front ready to show their power point presentation on the white board. Everyone stood with their project ready to talk to the grades when they came in. We were all very excited. The preps came in with their buddies first. Then it was the grade 3/4s and last the grade 6s. Mr Short and Mr Fisher also came in to look at our work/ Mr Fisher gave us fantastic stickers to go on our projects. Mr Short said that we did an AWESOME job! We had a fantastic and super dooper time at our Animal Expo!

L.E.A.P

L.E.A.P

As you are well aware, our great school aims to support our children in as many ways as possible. I am very fortunate to be part of that support team as an SSO.

As well as working in the classroom I run small literacy groups, under the watchful eye of Mrs Ross.

L.E.A.P (Literacy Enhancement Activity Program) is an activity based program designed to target different areas of Literacy.

The program is lots of fun and helps to build confidences in our kids to aid them in the classroom. Cheers Linda.
